The second part of our Iceland trip was a Viking Cruise around the island July 2nd through July 9th, 2025. This was our first Viking cruise. Our ship was the Mars. We really enjoyed the ship and the whole Viking aesthetic.
Our room was a good size with a nice balcony. The spa was great. They had a cold room that was full of snow! I somehow didn’t get a pic of that. Food on the ship was also very good. We loved the high tea with delicious scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam. We tried all the things.
Because we spent several days doing excursions pre-cruise, we were able to take advantage of the free excursions offered by Viking. We enjoyed walking around each of the little towns and also had a good time spending additional time on the ship.
And we will close with that. A perfect example of the extremes of Iceland where fire and ice, darkness and light, and the strange and sublime manage to coexist flawlessly.
