We love Hermann. It’s not the wineries, although those are nice. It’s the short trip for a weekend getaway in a quaint town. It’s the cute little shops. It’s the walkability.
Grand Cayman, December 2025
We took off for Grand Cayman right after Christmas and stayed through New Year’s. After a lot of research we decided to stay in the less touristy (less busy) north end of the island in an area called Rum Point.
Carmel-by-the-Sea, California
The first week of November 2025, we headed off for a long weekend on the California Coast. We flew into the San Francisco airport, and, arriving late we spent the night at the Grand Hyatt SFO in the airport before heading out early the next morning. Heading south on the Pacific Coast Highway, we meandered our way to Carmel.
The Land of Fire and Ice Part 2
The second part of our Iceland trip was a Viking Cruise around the island July 2nd through July 9th, 2025. This was our first Viking cruise. Our ship was the Mars. We really enjoyed the ship and the whole Viking aesthetic.
The Land of Fire and Ice Pt. 1
We traveled to Iceland in the summer of 2025, starting our trip with 4 days in Reykjavik before cruising around the island. While we were in Reykjavik we took several excursions (one was 12 hours!), took a walking food tour, ate some yummy and not so yummy Icelandic food, and visited several Reykjavik landmarks including Harpa Concert Hall and the Perlan Museum. Hilton Head Island, Summer 2024 Edition
Hilton Head is on repeat as a vacation destination for us. We don’t usually make multiple posts for the same spot, but this trip was worthy of it’s own post as we enjoyed several “firsts”. For this trip we rented an octagon-shaped Night Heron condo. We have stayed in Night Heron many times and enjoy the location, community pool, and wonderful, uncrowded beach.
Key West, November 2023
We enjoyed a long weekend in Key West last fall. It was a first for Trey and a first for me since a sweltering July trip with the family in the 80’s. As you can see from above, we really enjoyed Cuban Coffee Queen. The Marquesa Hotel was delightful.
Vancouver
Our July 2023 cruise ended in Vancouver, Canada. We were excited to explore this vibrant city and were not disappointed. After disembarking the ship we were able to walk to our hotel, the Hyatt Regency Vancouver.
Alaskan Cruise, Regent Seven Seas Explorer, July 2023
For our first cruise together we went all out and chose a Regent Seven Seas cruise to Alaska on the Seven Seas Explorer. It was nothing short of spectacular. Our cabin was lovely, the food was delicious and the excursions were great. We even lucked out with blue skies and sun for almost all of the cruise.
