Trey here, about time I join this page and give my perspective. Paris is awesome. We have been here two days and I’m captivated by the architecture, the people, the history, and of course the food.
We started today by taking the metro up to the Arc de Triomphe. This massive piece was commissioned by Napoleon in 1806 and it sits in the middle of a huge traffic circle. The detail in the work is hard to believe until you see it. The Arc sits at the hub of many streets and the beginning of the Champs-Élyséés.
We walked down the 2 miles of the Champs and enjoyed the high end shopping, picture Michigan Avenue only up a notch. We did stop at the worlds busiest McDonald’s and have a quick bite to eat, the food is mostly the same as in the US but the sauces differ a little.
Our next stop was the museum with Monet’s Water Lilies. This includes 3 rooms with long canvasses showing the pond going from morning to night, it’s really cool.
We then headed for the second largest church in Paris, Saint Sulpice Cathedral. It was old, but built in 1870 and very cool architecture. We stopped by the Luxembourg Gardens and sat and relaxed before our visit to Sainte-Chapelle. This church was built in 1250 AD and the stained glass windows take your breath away. The pictures don’t do it justice but they are huge and gorgeous.
We also love the metro train. The underground system of transportation is easy and cheap and it’s like a whole second city below the streets. Really cool. We decided to buy a small lock and put our initials on it and fastened it to the bridge where all the locks are located. Maybe we will come try to find whenever we return.
Our dinner tonight was another home run from Amelia. We ate at Le Bon Georges. Great wine and food. I’ll leave the critique and details up to Amelia. On another note, this time year it doesn’t get dark until after 10:30pm so it’s hard to get adjusted. Enough from me. I’m enjoying Paris and can’t wait to explore the Louvre and get up close to the Eiffel Tower in the coming days. Finally, Paris is huge and spread out and takes a ton of walking, like today we logged 19,500 steps!
You are doing a lot of work on pics. Mine are all sideways by the way, but that may just be my old computer. The Arche reminds me of the old lady local who chastized your mother about taking her shoes off when we were sitting at the Arche 50years ago.

P.S. T.H. was great. Did all kinds of stuff. Coming again next weekend.
Pretty awesome you guys!!
Thanks Uncle Lloyd! We are loving it and are thrilled we finally got to join all the world travelers in the family.
Your pictures are beautiful. Good thing you’ve got comfortable shoes if you’re going to walk that much. I did notice the Rothys. Paris looks breathtaking and a place I bet you’ll visit again. Savor it all.
Love everything.
Beautiful. Amazingly built so long ago without all the equipment we use today.
