Angelina began in Paris in 1903 on Rue de Rivoli in the 6th. There are now locations across the city and worldwide.
Angelina was on my radar after reading about their specialties: hot chocolate so rich and thick it approaches pudding consistency and the Mont Blanc.
When we saw an Angelina while heading to Luxembourg Gardens after lunch on Monday (McDonald’s, ha! More on that later) I knew we had to stop.
The hot chocolate was exactly as I was hoping: creamy and thick with a rich chocolate flavor. It reminded me of the Mexican drinking chocolate that the kids and I discovered on our trip to Playa del Carmen in 2010. It was perfect!
The Mont Blanc
The Mont Blanc was a delight with crispy meringue on the bottom topped with fromage blanc (soft whipped cream cheese, tasted liked whipped cream) and topped with chestnut cream ribbons. It was not overly sweet-the perfect balance of sweet and creamy.
