We started day two in Venice with breakfast on the terrace at our hotel, the Gritti Palace. The breakfast was very good and the view was amazing!
After breakfast we took a water taxi to the island of Murano. It felt great to be out on the water!
Murano is famous for glass making. They make chandeliers, glasses, pieces of art, etc. It was fascinating to watch them make a vase and a horse out of glass.

After buying a couple of pieces we headed back to the hotel for lunch and drinks on the terrace. We couldn’t get enough of that view!
After lunch we set out for a walk to nowhere, just wandering the streets. The street in the pictures below ended with steps into a canal. Perfect selfie spot!
We had dinner that night at Osteria Al Cicheto. The starter included two crostini, (one with prosciutto and the other with blue cheese and an anchovy), three fritters (meat, eggplant, and tuna), and my favorite, the little “snail things”. We can’t remember the Venetian name for them but they were great. They were chilled and tossed with olive oil, parsley, and lemon. We used a toothpick to remove them from the shell and pop into our mouths.
We each had the spaghetti with clams. It was soooo good. The seafood in Venice was excellent.
We were too full for dessert at the restaurant but we did manage some gelato for the walk/vaporetto boat ride back to the hotel.
Arrivederci Venice…Until we meet again!
