After months of staying at home we were thrilled to be able to visit Hilton Head this summer. Their Covid numbers started to increase at end of our week, but we followed protocols and were able to enjoy ourselves safely. The picture above was the only time we ate at a restaurant. It was our annual favorite, Hudson’s Seafood House on the docks. We stopped for lunch as soon as we got on the island and sat outside right next to the water. It was delicious and extra nice to eat hot, fresh restaurant food.
On the way to South Carolina we stayed in Atlanta at the Four Seasons, because, if I’m going to stay in a hotel during Covid it had better be a nice one. It was lovely. They are reportedly following safety guidelines from Johns Hopkins University, which, whether truly anything special or not, felt comforting. Here’s a photo of one of my favorite things from a nice hotel room…room service condiments! There’s just something about those cute little bottles.
Our stay was very low-key. We didn’t shop. We didn’t go to the pool. We slept in. We took naps. We sat on the deck, listened to the birds chirping, and drank coffee. We ordered carryout for dinner every night and binge watched the tv show, Billions. We went to the beach and took a bike ride every day. The beach was not crowded at all and the weather was perfect. It can get uncomfortably hot and humid in South Carolina but this trip provided surprisingly mild and pleasant weather. Just what we needed!
